If you know of an institution or project that you would like to see a demo from at ICTD2013 do not hesitate of telling us and we will contact them personally to remind them about the conference. regards, carlos I*CTD 2013 – Call for demos* We welcome submissions of demonstrations for ICTD 2013. The demo session will provide students, researchers, and practitioners with an international audience for showcasing demonstrations of their work. Your demonstration may span novel hardware or software systems, video footage, or physical artifacts, amongst others. Research projects, commercial tools, or government initiatives are all welcome. Engaging, interactive demos that demonstrate real world impact are encouraged. Unlike ICTD 2013 papers, the subject of a demo may have been published previously, either in ICTD or in other venues. However, the demonstration itself should be new and interesting to the community, and should reflect work that is at least as mature as a poster presentation. At least one presenter of each accepted demo must register for the conference and be in attendance to present the demo. Authors of accepted papers and posters are also invited to propose demonstrations of their work. *Submission Instructions* Demo participants must submit a brief abstract (minimum of 100 words) that describes the context, novelty, and significance of the demonstration, including a precise description of exactly what is to be demonstrated (hardware, software, etc.) along with the demonstrator’s technical requirements (power, internet, setup, space, etc.). Each submission should include a title; the names, affiliations, and contact emails for all authors. Each submission will be reviewed to assess the novelty of the demo and its suitability for the conference before its final acceptance. Please note, accepted submissions will not be published in the conference proceedings. Professor *Laura Stark* from University of Jyväskylä in Finland who will talk about ethnographic approaches to mobile use among the very poor. Our second keynote is *Anne Shongwe,* founder and CEO of Afroes Transformational Multi-Media & Consulting. The 2nd conference was in Kampala, Uganda in 2010 and the 3rd in New Delhi, India in 2012. *How to Participate?* M4D2014 welcomes participants from academia, industry, NGOs, development agencies, and governmental and international organizations. If you want to submit a paper, there are two different options. *Research papers *(8-12 pages including references) will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on theory craftsmanship and analytical rigor. Articles considering critical approaches and theoretical development will be prioritized. The *practitioner’s track* is open to practitioners to present their experiences, cases and policies (4-5 pages). These contributions do not have to be guided by academic theory and critical analysis. All accepted papers will be published in the proceedings and allocated a presentation slot.** *Presenting with Posters, in Short Track or Parallel Sessions?* Accepted papers with best reviews will be allocated longer presentation slots in parallel sessions. Jerry will review what the NSA can and can't do, as well as what the NSA does and doesn't do. More importantly he'll discuss what we as individuals can do in response including truly secure password hygiene, encryption and cryptography that actually works, Tor, the anonymizing network, and a new security model that assumes ever-present surveillance. A Tor relay will be configured and given away as well as flash drives and CDs full of tools and toys. Jerry Whiting engages in what he calls "political computing" providing assistance and guidance to activists, NGOs, and others. He has done encryption and cryptography for 15+ years, runs Tor relays, and lectures on related topics. Founder of Azalea Software, he served on Seattle's Citizens Telecommunications & Technology Advisory Board (CTTAB) for 4 years and publishes JetCityOrange.
