Starting from this construct, this research investigates community multimedia centres in Mozambique and their perceptions by the local communities. Community multimedia centres are a particular kind of public access to ICTs venue which combine community radio (broadcasting in local languages to a maximum distance ray of 150 kilometers) with facilities of a telecentre. Sara will discuss preliminary results and methodological issues connected to the research (semi-structured interviews, photo-elicitation technique and an application to TASCHA non-users survey). About the presenter Sara Vannini is a PhD Candidate at the Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland). She is currently working on the research and cooperation project RE-ACT, in collaboration with the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Maputo, Mozambique). Her research interests lie in the area of the social meanings attributed to ICTs and community multimedia centres in Mozambique. .
