I would assume that by "games programming", they are describing the "Games Design" stream that is one of a few offered by UCT CS dept that will result in a B.Sc. Computer Science. It might not be a request for an internship specifically to do with gaming. If the student is specifically interested in gaming that is obviously a different matter, but s/he would benefit from industry experience of any sort. They'll receive all normal CS instruction in the course of the degree (but bear in mind that undergrad skills needing some polishing is a universal phenomenon).
