You probably already know about this - but if not, Jill Woelfer, Dave Hendry, and others have done a lot on smart phones and homeless youth.  See e.g.

Woelfer, J. P., Iverson, A., Hendry, D.G., Friedman, B., and Gill, B. (2011). Improving the safety of homeless young people with mobile phones: Values, form and function. Proceedings of CHI 2011, ACM Press (2011), 1707-1716.

For a publication list go to http://vsdesign.org/publications.php and filter on "homelessness".

Hello friends,

A colleague in Brazil is looking for examples of projects or studies at UW that look at “the use of smart phones amongst people in social vulnerability”. If you are or have been involved in such work, please let me know.

Thanks!
