I'm in the process of organizing the 2014 NYUAD Annual International
Hackathon for the Social Good in the Arab World on Feb. 14 - 16, 2014.
Last year's event was a big success!
* I would like to ask you to help me advertise the NYUAD Hackathon and forward this invite to professors from top universities such as
MIT, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign, Yale, Berkeley, University of Washington, and Georgia Institute of Technology, Princeton and Harvard) to nominate *ONE* of their best students
to participate in the NYUAD International Hackathon. All expenses paid!
last year, the US students that participated from Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Harvey MUDD, NYU NY, Princeton, and Yale, had an excellent experience. I hope that you can help recruit students from top US universities for the the 2014 NYUAD Hackathon.
*We will cover accommodation, food, and airfare. Please note that the deadline

Dear Colleagues,
The NYU Abu Dhabi Department for Computer Science, in collaboration with the NYUAD Institute, is excited to announce the *2014 NYUAD Annual
International Hackathon for Social Good in the Arab World.
This exciting 3-day program is a collaboration aimed at bringing
together computer science students, academics, and technology experts,
from around the UAE, the Arab World, the US and Europe to foster a
culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in computer science. We are
excited to invite you to be part of this rapidly growing program to
increase cooperation in Computer Science both within the Arab World as
well as in the international CS community.
This event will take place from February 14-16, 2014 at the NYU Abu
Dhabi Downtown Campus. Small teams of students, headed by a mentor drawn from academics, professional developers, and accomplished
representatives from regional and international startups, will compete
by creating mobile and web applications dedicated to the social good in
the Arab World. On the final evening, teams will present their
application before a panel of distinguished judges and guests.
*There are two ways to participate in the NYUAD Hackathon:
1) Nominate one student from your university to participate in the
Hackathon:
We would like to invite you to nominate one talented computer science
student from your university for a *full scholarship* to participate
in the 2014 NYUAD International Hackathon for the Social Good in the
Arab World. As a professor of computer science, you play a critical
role in helping to make this program a success. We are looking
for entrepreneurial, highly intelligent students skilled at working in a team. We would like to emphasize that each University should nominate
only a single student, so we encourage you to work with your faculty to
select one highly talented individual. Please nominate someone as soon
as possible: the final deadline for nomination is *December 18, 2013*.

2) Apply to become a Mentor during the NYUAD Hackathon:
We are also looking for mentors to attend the event. We invite
professors, tech start-up entrepreneurs, and professionals to nominate
themselves to serve as a mentor for the teams of talented students
during the event (You MUST be present during the entire three days of
the Hackathon). We will only consider highly qualified academics, highly experienced tech developers, and founders of successful startups. To nominate yourself as a mentor for this event, please click this link:
