Greetings. On 15-16 September 2011, the International Conference on Inclusive Growth through Mobile Applications will be held at M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai. The conference organizers are International Institute for Information Design (IIID), the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) and M S Swaminathan Research Foundation. On 17th September 2011 the interested participants will be taken to Pondicherry to visit the Village Resource Centres (VRCs) and Village Knowledge Centres (VKCs) operated by M S Swaminathan Research Foundation.
The conference will address the information design challenges for bringing relevant content via a mobile phone to people who would otherwise have no access to such information, to facilitate exchange and interaction and thus promote inclusive growth. It will investigate what formats of communication are appropriate and understandable in order to empower people and support socio-economic development.
Bringing together technological possibilities, content provision and the transformative power of information design we expect this conference to be a milestone for the development of innovative and effective applications for mobile phones.
I shall be grateful if you would like to submit a presentation on mobile expertise in your field or participate as a participant. Your participation will certainly enrich the debate and strengthen the conclusions of this conference.
