Want to be a part of the team that brought the ICT4D space ChildCount, Formhub, XLSForm, open source electricity planning software,rural solar smartgrids, and other innovations? 

The Modi Research at the Earth Institute in Columbia University uses open source software to make development process smarter and to bring new services (health, water, energy) to people that need them most. With a team of development  practitioners, designers, and data analysts, software developers will work on projects that will benefit people in Africa, India, Haiti, and Indonesia.

We work directly with governments, non-profit organizations, and other institutions in the developing world, and help solve real-world problems using web and mobile software. The problems we tackle are often data and data flow problems; the tools we build incorporate geospatial planning, open-data webservices, mobile phone-based data collection, operational optimization algorithms, data dashboards, and the like. We are primarily a Python and Javascript shop but looking for people with a passion for software engineering above all.
