You are invited to meet Professor Fredrik Meiton (University of New Hampshire) before his public talk for a special conversation about how he researched and wrote his new book
Electrical Palestine: Capital and Technopolitics from Empire to Nation
His history of the Palestine electric grid sits at the intersection of History of Technology, History of Colonialism, and Middle East Studies. He will discuss how he found politics embedded in the seemingly apolitical mechanisms of the power grid and talk about his approaches to writing the history of technology in the Middle East and beyond.
Thursday 10/17, 1:30-3pm, Smith 320.(All UW students and faculty are welcome)
